Josh Ramsay's Story, on how he became to be!
Josh Ramsay
( born to be, Marianas Trench)
When growing up in a household where your dad owns a record company and your mom’s a teacher, you think for most people this is a regular life, still not knowing some day he would be changing the world with his music
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 11th, 1985…, Josh Ramsay was brought into the world. During his childhood he was visited by many rockers like Areosmith, and other major rock legends. Josh thought everyone was famous and in the rock business. Until he formed the band “ Ramsay Fiction” with former high school buddy, Matt Webb. They started playing gigs at coffee shops and bars, Josh started playing gigs by himself @ age 14 until he formed “ Ramsay Fiction” with Matt.
Later on Josh started experimenting with drugs, and got addicted to heroine and also became bulimic. Soon he was on the verge of heroine overdose, with his family’s attempts and fails for intervention, they finally spoke up and said “ go to rehab or get out of the house”. Before the interventions, the summer between grade 11 and 12 Josh lost over 75 pounds due to his addiction! Later at rehab after realizing it’s either drugs and dying or doing what he loves playing music, he finally decided to break his habit and get better!
When Matt and Josh finally decided they wanted to make an awesome band, they auditioned many people but had hard times finding a bass and drum player, until Josh found a drummer ad in the paper. When they called him up, he was hired on the spot because… on his answering machine was a Japanese distress call, and right then they thought he was perfect. When they hired Ian they asked if he knew anyone who played bass guitar. Soon after many more people, Ian spoke up and said that his room mate Mike Ayley played bass guitar, and soon this unknown band would be born to be!
Soon after many phone calls and sending demos to 604 records, they finally were about to give up when Josh spoke up and sat in his office until they would agree to set up a meeting to talk, after lots of hard work they finally got the record deal they were looking for in 2003!
604 records had faith In the Van city rockers, the first single they released was called “ Say Anything” Josh wrote the song when his insomnia was at it’s breaking point, he just sat down and wrote random words that ended up being the song. That single didn’t even get on the top 100 list, then they released “ decided to break it” and it didn’t even end up on the radio…, they were about to give up because they were so low on money,… then when they released “ Shake Tramp” to the world, it hit hard on the top 100 list, it hit number 17 for 8 straight weeks! After that it hit much music countdown at number 1 for over a month!
Soon Marianas Trench was being played on the radio, and on October 3rd, 2007 their first album “ Fix Me” hit stores everywhere!
As their success leaded to fame, they still stayed strong and worked hard to stay on top, with their song “ Cross my heart” won a “grammie” for best director’s cut on their music video!
As the years went by, their music was being listened to all over the world, by the summer of 2010 Marianas Trench had over 5 MMVA nominations for their songs “ Celebrity Status”, “ Cross my heart”, and “ Shake Tramp”. They didn’t win anything but they had their first performance at the Much Music Video Awards, in a few years that they’ve been invited to the awards, but at the red carpet they arrived in a truck pulling a hot tub with the guys in tuxes, after they pulled off their tuxes and jumped out of the tub they defeated ninjas on the red carpet @ the MMVA’s in Toronto last year.
Earlier that year they released their new album on February 20th, 2010 called “ Masterpiece Theater”, it became their most popular album out of the two!
In the end, if it wasn’t for their fans they wouldn’t be where their at today “a big hit”! altogether Marianas Trench was born to be!
